Benefits

SELF-DEFENSE
Since every fight ultimately ends up on the ground, the grappling based nature of BJJ provides true security and confidence. Students will learn to safely defend themselves without permanently or dangerously hurting their adversary. BJJ is not dancing or flashy art. It began as the unarmed hand-to-hand martial art of Japanese samurai and is now one of the core arts for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

FITNESS
Lose weight. Gain strength. Develop stamina. BJJ is one of the most fun and effective ways to develop a healthy lifestyle.

DISCIPLINE
It typically takes about 6 - 10 years for an adult practitioner to earn a BJJ black belt and kids can’t begin the adult pathway to blackbelt until they are at least 16 years old. There are no “junior black belts” or kids wearing modified black belts. There are also no tests or fees for promotions. Belt promotions are granted under the guidelines of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). The intense study and commitment required to master the art requires and develops discipline, grit, and focus in students.

COMMUNITY
It’s a fun activity that creates new friendships, strengthens relationships, and builds a family community that is forged on the mats. Students will become a part of a larger family sharing in a common pursuit.
